BHTA is run on a day to day basis by a Board of Management, which consists of the directors of the Association, with strategic input and decision from the Council, which consists of the Chairmen of our various Sections, with the directors attending as observers.

Les Lindsay, Chairman: Les was Managing Director of KCI Medical (UK) and KCI Ethos (Ireland) from 1998 to 2006 and now runs his own business, Shadowfax Medical.  Previous experience in the UK and Ireland included senior roles with Steris, Dräger, Ohmeda, DuPont and B.O.C. in both the medical equipment and pharmaceutical industries. 

Graham Collyer, President: Graham is Chairman of Sumed International (UK) Ltd.  Previously Chief Executive of Shiloh Plc and a Non-Executive Director of Altrix Healthcare Plc, for many years he was Technical Director of Seton Healthcare Group Plc, latterly SSL International Plc, and has twenty years experience in the healthcare and pharmaceutical industry.  A past Chairman of the SDMA (Surgical Dressings Manufacturers' Association) and Council member of the ABHI (Association of British Healthcare Industries), for many years he led the negotiations for the industry on Drug Tariff issues and he has been involved with BHTA for some years. 

Ray Hodgkinson, Director General: With some 40 years in the healthcare industry, Ray's experience covers virtually all aspects of healthcare.  From a pharmaceutical training, through sales management, he fulfilled a personal vision to have his own company, which pioneered a number of new product areas over a 22-year period. 

Philip Charlton-Smith: Chairman of both the Rehabilitation Products, and Seating & Positioning Sections, Philip is Managing Director of Sumed International (UK) Ltd.  

Phil Isherwood: As a Director of Nottingham Rehab Ltd. for 18 years, and currently Chief Executive, Phil has been closely involved with the Community Equipment sector through its many recent changes.  During that time he has also served on the Board of the British Educational Supplies Association, (BESA).

Mike Lord : After 7 years working for Sunrise Medical, Mike has now been with Minivator for 10 years, and he is now the Chief Executive of Minivator Group Limited.  Until recently he was Chairman of the Mobility Access & Stairlifts Section.

Peter Siddall MBE: Peter Siddall has been involved in the healthcare industry since 1962, when he began his career as an apprentice engineer with Siddall & Hilton Hospital Furniture Ltd.  This company later became Sidhil Ltd, where Peter is Managing Director, and is today one of the UK's leading specialists in the manufacture of hospital and healthcare furniture.

Paul Saunders: Paul has experienced a wide range of positions, including; Sales, Marketing, Trade Development, Business Intelligence and Government Affairs, which is the post he currently holds at ConvaTec UKI.

Barend ter Haar (Dr): Barend and the company which he represents, BES Rehab Ltd, have taken an active part in the BHTA over the last 12 years.  He is Vice-Chair of the Seating and Positioning Section, and of the Decontamination Section, represents the BHTA on the HITF technology group, and on CH173 at BSI.  He also represents the industry at ISO WG11 and WG6 standards meetings.
