British Healthcare Trades Association Contacting BHTA

Top 10 reasons to join

Here are the top ten reasons why you should consider becoming a BHTA member company

1. Enhanced credibility
The BHTA is Britain's only healthcare and assistive technology trades association to have a fully endorsed Office of Fair Trading Code of Practice. Membership gives your company the edge because it means that you are a preferred supplier. You can display the Code logo, a powerful marketing tool, helping to attract and retain customers. The OFT and BHTA websites will help drive customers to you.

2. Effective influence
The BHTA is respected in the corridors of power within the UK and globally. Our position papers are read by all the main political parties, helping to shape and form policy. This dialogue enables our membership to be alert to legislative developments that could impact upon their businesses.

3. A networking platform.
The section members met regularly and discuss issues and developments. The meetings act as a platform for you to have your say and to learn from your colleagues.

4. Quality information
Every week you'll receive an email update from the BHTA on what is happening within the industry and the Association. The Digest, from our Parliamentary Representative, reports on topics of interest raised in parliament
The Bulletin is a lively and entertaining magazine. On the "Hot topics and Burning issues” pages, BHTA sections can highlight matters of concern to the industry, policy makers and opinion formers.

5. New product publicity
The Independent Living Design Awards - now in their 14th year - are the pre-eminent showcase for innovative products that make a real difference to everyday living. The publicity surrounding the awards generates awareness and more sales.

6. Save money at shows and exhibitions
We negotiate discounts on stand spaces at the biggest shows in the UK. At Naidex 2010, the UK's number one exhibition for disability, homecare and rehabilitation, we saved our members over £70,000!

7. Money saving insurance.
The BHTA insurance scheme, already taken up by well over 100 member companies, delivers significant savings. Research shows that, on average, members' premiums have reduced by over 25% by using the scheme. Better cover for less! Some companies have even covered their annual BHTA subscription by the savings they have made.

8. More membership benefits
We offer a range of services exclusive to members of the Association to enhance the value of their overall membership. These include free legal consultation, private medical cover, discounts on staff training, publicity materials and advertising and the services of the independent arbitration service.

9. It's personal and it's professional
The ATP Society aims to recognise job competences and raise standards, in turn giving members of the public, and professionals, the confidence that if they deal with a Registered Person they are dealing with someone they can trust. Every registered individual has an identity card and a certificate of proof of registration (and at what level). There is a special Code of Conduct for the scheme, too, which every member agrees to follow.

10. Help at hand
Supporting you is the Secretariat, a dedicated team who are on hand to help answer member and customer queries. Think of them as your "One Stop Shop” – if they don't know the answer, they'll find out for you. They work closely with the BHTA Sections, the Office of Fair Trading and other governmental agencies. They are responsible for the BHTA communications including the website and project-manage the Association's presence at shows, exhibitions and conferences throughout the UK.
