Board of Management

Phil Isherwood - Chairman

As a Director of Nottingham Rehab Ltd for 18 years, and currently Chief Executive, Phil has been closely involved with the Community Equipment sector through its many recent changes. During that time he has also served on the Board of the British Educational Supplies Association (BESA). Phil took up the post of BHTA Chairman in 2009.

Ray Hodgkinson MBE - Director General
 
With some 40 years in the healthcare industry, Ray's experience covers virtually all aspects of healthcare. From pharmaceutical training, through sales management, he fulfilled a personal vision to have his own company, which pioneered a number of new product areas over a 22-year period. 
 
 
 
Andrew Barker
 
Andrew has a strong passion for our industry and says his vision is of a world where people working together create things that could not be achieved by individuals and where anything is possible if you are committed eough.  He is ?? of Mangar International Ltd. 
 
Joe Cavanagh
 
Joe has served the BHTA for a number of years via a variety of companies and most recently filled the role of Chairman of the Rehabilitation Products Section.  He runs his own business - JFC Consultants - and brings a broad range of skills to the Board. 
 
 
Mick Clancy
 
Mick served as Chairman of the Beds & Support Surfaces Section for four years before joining the Board.  His experience - gained during 35 years - selling to and managing businesses serving the NHS and other international healthcare providers has served him well when tackling team projects for BHTA.  He has recently retired from Frontier Therapeutics. 
Karen Clokey
 
Managing Director of a Dispensing Appliance Contractor in the Manchester PCT - Labont Ltd - Karen very firmly comes from a small business background and started out as a State Enrolled Nurse. She is an active participant in the BHTA DACs Section and is the first woman to join the BHTA Board.
 
Graham Collyer
 
Graham has operated at a senior level in several companies ranging from SME to FTSE 250, mostly in the healthcare industry.  With an extensive experience of working within healthcare trade associations (namely SDMA, ABHI, ESDREMA, SAMA, BHTA), he has a wide knowledge of many of BHTA’s Section activities.  Graham is Executive Chairman of Sumed International (UK) Ltd.
 
Mike Lord - Vice Chairman 
 
Mike has 17 years' experience across the rehabilitation, mobility and stairlift sectors. He is currently the Chief Executive of Handicare and was Chairman of the Mobility Access & Stairlifts Section until taking up his current BHTA role.
 
Andrew Pear
 
Having been a member for over 20 years, and having served twice as Chairman of the FAME Section, Andy has a good understanding of BHTA its needs, strategy and objectives.  He has extensive board level experience within the Healthcare industry, in small, medium and large enterprises and in the early stages of his career he was trained by Selfridges in Retail Management.  He is currently Managing Director of Reliance Medical Ltd.
 
 
Lord Chris Rennard MBE
 
Chris, the former Chief Executive of the Liberal Democrats, has joined the BHTA to assist with communications issues and brings a wealth of experience as a motivational team leader with very strmong communication and diplomatic skills, a capacity to manage change effectively and proven ability to identify strategies for success, adopt clear objectives and deliver results.
