BHTA has removed Hamilton's Chair & Mobility Centres (Halifax, West Yorkshire) from membership for breach of the BHTA Code of Practice. Their membership has been rescinded for failure to have a speedy complaints handling mechnism in place, and failure to respond to BHTA regarding a complaint brought to the Association's attention.
Director General of the BHTA Ray Hodgkinson said: "The Code of Practice isn't just a piece of paper that is looks good but doesn't actually mean much. Any company signing up to the Code has to be aware that we take it very, very seriously and that it is a key element in our efforts to raise standards in the marketplace. We spend a good deal of time checking and making sure that companies that promote the fact that they are complying with the Code are doing what they say and when it's clear that they are not, then we will not hesitate to take the necessary action. The Code is being more and more recognised by all sectors of the marketplace including professionals and end users who expect that any company signed up to it will provide them with the highest levels of support and customer service.”
